You got it! I ended up recreating the slides because my deadline on my
project is Monday and didn't have any more time to mess with it. But the
problem of not being able to change the slide transition timings after
setting them with Rehearsed Timings is still a problem for me. In one slide
in particular, I eliminated a portion, totally removing the sound file all
together, but once I set the timing on a slide with Rehearsed Timing, its "in
stone" and it won't change to the new timing in the Automatically Advance
Slide box. I know the length of each sound file I insert, and using the
advanced timeline is a must for me. I remember figuring this out before, and
I was so happy, but now I can't remember what I did. Lucy, thanks for your
attention to my problem.
Post by Lucy ThomsonSo even if you change the 'automatically after' to less than 25 seconds in
the slide transition taskpane, it still takes more than 25 seconds to
transition? And you have looked at the 'advanced timeline' in the custom
animation taskpane of that slide and there is nothing set to end after 25
seconds? And you don't have a sound or video file playing over multiple
slides? Because it sounds like PowerPoint is waiting for something before
advancing.

Don't remake the whole thing - there really is no need I'm sure!

Post by Diane BuschHi, Lucy. I tabbed through the items on my slides, and there are no other
elements on the slides to prevent them from advancing after the times I
re-set. I am using PowerPoint 2003. Yes, I used Rehearsed Timing. I
remembered a while back that I did figure out how to change the timings after
they were set using Rehearsed Timing, but for the life of me, I can't
remember how. I thought ahead this time, and saved a copy of this particular
presentation without the Rehearsed Timings, but I'd hate to have to go
through rehearsing the timings all over again just for two slides. My next
step is to recreate the slides, but I know there's a way to fix this!
Thanks
for any help you can provide.
Post by Lucy ThomsonHi Diane
It certainly sounds like there is something there preventing the advance -
try tabbing through the items on the slide and see if you spot anything odd
(such as a sound file that has been dragged off the slide). Oh, and what
version are you using? And can you confirm that you used 'rehearse timing'
and not 'record narration'?

Post by Diane BuschThanks, but I tried that initially. Still takes 25 seconds for the
slide
to
advance instead of 10 seconds.
Post by EmprovisionGosh, I've had that problem before, but I never really figured it out. It
doesn't happen to me anymore, though.
For your second question, set the slide timing to 00:00. This tells
PowerPoint to advance after all the animations/sounds are done. If
there
are
no animations, it will just go on to the next slide.

Post by Diane BuschQuestion #1: How do I reset slide transition settings after initially
setting them using the Rehearse Timings feature? Once I rehearse
and
set the
slide transition timings, my attempt to change the timings later
does
not
work. Initially, I wanted a slide to change after 40 seconds. I
eliminated
a portion from my slide, and changed the Automatically Advance slide
setting
to be 20 seconds. No sound clips or animations are playing to
prevent
the
slide from advancing after 20 seconds. Question #2: Is there
another
way to
set transitions besides the Advance Slide feature? In another
slide, a
sound
clip plays for 10 seconds. The slide doesn't automatically advance
when the
10 second clip stops playing - the slide advances after 25 seconds.
The
Automatically Advance Slide after 10 seconds is checked, yet it
still
waits
25 seconds to advance.
