Mark,

You don't mention what version of powerpoint....

Quick way.....use the tab key to cycle through every object on the slide.

Another way is to view the "custom animations"

- in ppt 97 the object you have highlighted on the animation order will still be selected when you quit out of the
animation window

- in ppt 2002 when cycling through the objects if you have the "custom animation" task pane displayed you can see what
object you have selected...each object will have a number. The first object you 'drew' will have the smallest number.

Another option is to move the top object way over to the right.

select all the objects.....have powerpoint distribute them to the right object... then you can see the one you want...
delete it.... then put them back in place.

They say computers make repetetive tasks easy (I say they generate repetitive tasks)

Cheers

I have an animated slide show with 24 layers (graphics) in one slide. Each layer is identical in size stacked 24 deep. I need to delete the bottom layer without disrupting any of the layers on top. I know that I can move the top layer to the bottom. Should I do this step 23 times until I reach the layer I want to delete? I'm afraid that I will mess up the animated sequences for the images if I do this. Can anyone help?
Thanks,
Mark
And another way -- in addition to all of TAJ's very good suggestions --
is to use the Select Multiple tool. You'll probably have to add it to
your toolbar via Tools/Customize.

Oh, or grab the PPTools Starter Set. It has a layer manager that should
help you tremendously.

[CRITICAL UPDATE - Anyone using Office 2003 should install the critical
update as soon as possible. From PowerPoint, choose "Help -> Check for
Updates".]

Hello Mark,

PowerPoint doesn't provide any "layers" control or sophisticated
selection/hide/show capabilities for complex slides with overlapping
content. However there are some workarounds that others have already
communicated to you.

If you (or anyone else reading this message) think that it's important that
PowerPoint provide better layer and/or selection tools (without having to
resort to VBA or add-ins), don't forget to send your feedback (in YOUR OWN
WORDS, please) to Microsoft at:

http://register.microsoft.com/mswish/suggestion.asp

As with all product suggestions, it's important that you not just state
your wish but also WHY it is important to you that your product suggestion
be implemented by Microsoft. Microsoft receives thousands of product
suggestions every day and we read each one but, in any given product
development cycle, there are only sufficient resources to address the ones
that are most important to our customers so take the extra time to state
your case as clearly and completely as possible.

IMPORTANT: Each submission should be a single suggestion (not a list of
suggestions)
