Is it possible in PPT...any version (Mac or PC) to initiate a callout box by
mousing over a location in the slide? Doing this would mean you didn't have
to stick to a specific order in opening and closing callout boxes...mouse
over a spot and the callout box pops up, move the mouse away and the callout
box disappears. Much more effective. Thanks.

As it turns out, with Mac Office 2008, when you mouse over a word in that
version of PPT (2008) the tip appears but then disappears on its own after
only a second or two. My goal is for the tip to remain until the mouse moves
away.

Thanks.

You could fake the mouse over by duplicating slide 1 then placing the call
out on the second slide only. Hide the second slide.

On slide one create a mouse over hyperlink to slide 2.
On slide two Cover the remaining slide (or just the area immediately
surrounding the callout with a 99% transparent object. Create a mouse over
hyperlink to page 1.

Now when you mouse over the selected area on slide one it will appear to
have a call out (when actually you have moved to slide 2) when you move off
the call out to the surround area you will (descreetly) move back to slide
one.

This one may tax my design capabilities...but I certainly appreciate the
creative solution.
