Why are the initial quotes upside down in PowerPoint?

I am trying to do a presentation that features many quotes. But the initial
quotes are always upside down! How can I fix this?

Have you tried "Tools", "AutoCorrect Options", on the "AutoFormat as you
type" TAB uncheck the ""Straight" quotes with "Smart"" quotes option.
