I am trying to make a powerpoint slide larger than 56 inches in length (I
have no other programs available) for a poster presentation -- I'm aiming for
36 inches by 66 inches, but the custom page setup will not let me go beyond
56 inches. Is there a way around this limitation on the program??

Yes, PowerPoint slides are limited to 56 inches width and heigth. Choose a
size proportional to the size you want and use the printer or copier to
enlarge it.

They will remain at whatever resolution they were created at.

If that's sufficient for your intended output size, you should be OK.
