Sandy: thanks for trying.
I tried everything suggested with no positive results.
I even re-installed Powerpoint 2003. It still does not work properly.
Let me explain more fully. In powerpoint 2003 chart edit mode everything is
fine from a font appearance standpoint. When I return to display mode the
characters instantly become compressed, pushing together. This continues in
printing mode. This result does not change when alternative fonts are tried.
This character compression result is new, implying I have done something to
cause this new feature.
Any suggestions??

Post by SandyYou may have resized it when it was not in edit mode - that will do very odd
things to the fonts. You need to double click on the chart and resize that
way. If you do not want the font size to change as you resize the chart, make
sure autosize is turned off for all areas of the chart (it's a check mark
under the font tab).
If you are a "creative" and used to working with Illustrator or the like,
you'll be disappointed to learn that PowerPoint older than 2007 does not
provide kearning tools.

Post by AutoCompassspacing between characters in a chart (title or axis text) is extremely
compressed. How do I returning character spacing to normal? Thanks. WP
