No, it shows as a ppt file, that's the kicker. Also, the
icons for pps and ppt show up different as well. It only
happens on this one machine. If I copy that same file
over to another machine, it all works as normal.
It's almost like the registry got hosed up. I checked the
File Types extensions under the Folder Options, and it
uses the same executable for ppt and pps files, so that
wasn't the issue. I was hoping that it was an option
setting within PP, but I couldn't find anything.

Terry,
If I understand your question ...
Does the file have the suffix .pps ? .PPS Powerpoint
files are saved in
'Show' mode, so when you double click them they open
directly in Show mode.
As you have noticed, if opened by PowerPoint when
PowerPoint is already
running, it opens in edit mode.
Double clicking a .ppt PowerPoint file will open in the
edit mode for
editing. If you change the file with the .pps suffix
to .ppt (on the end of
the name), it will open in edit mode and vice versa. If
I haven't answered
your question correctly, let us know and someone else
will.
Hope this helps,
Raymond
Post by Terry DuncanFor some reason, when opening a ppt file either from an
outlook attachment, or from the Documents start menu, PP
fires up the file in slide show mode. Also, it opens
fine
Post by Terry Duncanwhen starting up PP and opening it from there.
View is set to normal.
Anyone have any ideas why this could be happening?
